mer-Tris(β-alaninato)cobalt(III): Crystal structure, solution properties and its DNA cleavage in the presence of ascorbic acid

The complex mer-[Co(β-ala)3] has been characterized by X-ray crystallography, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrospray ionization-mass spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The complex alone cannot cleave DNA but can do so in the presence of ascorbic acid.
