Interaction of lead (II) chloride with hydroxyflavones in methanol: A spectroscopic study

The interactions between lead (II) ions and 3-hydroxyflavone, 5-hydroxyflavone and 3′,4′-dihydroxyflavone were investigated. The complexes were characterized by electronic absorption spectroscopy combined with chemometrics methods. The stoichiometry composition and stability of complexes have allowed to classify the different sites of chelation of Pb(II) according to their complexing capacity in the following way: catechol > α-hydroxy-carbonyl > β-hydroxy-carbonyl.
