Podand hexamines and the synthesis of pendent-arm tetra-azamacrocycles

Coordination of Cu(II) to a podand hexamine enables fcile synthesis of stereoisomeric macrocycles with pendent arms suitable for chelation of an external metal ion outside the macrocycle.
