Coordination properties of a dicompartmental ligand with tetra- and hexadentate coordination sites towards copper (II) and nickel (II) ions

A new dicompartmental ligand with tetra- and hexadentate coordination sites has been synthesized.The mono- and binuclear Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes of the ligand have been prepared and characterized by spectral studies.Between the two compartments, the compartment containing azomethine nitrogens has stronger coordination towards the metal ions than the compartment containing piperazine nitrogens.
