Genetic variation and clonal diversity of the endangered aquatic fern Ceratopteris pteridoides as revealed by AFLP analysis

►Genetic structure of eight Ceratopteris pteridoides populations was investigated using AFLPs. ►Low genetic variation and high clonal diversity were found within populations.►Two management units have been identified, and translocation within each management unit is recommended.
