Effect of lead oxide on optical properties of Dy3+ ions in PbO-H3BO3-TiO2-AlF3 glasses

► Effect of PbO on optical properties of Dy3+ ions is investigated in LBTAFDy glass. ► The Ω2 parameter and the Y/B ratio of Dy3+ depends on PbO content in LBTAFDy glass. ► The structural asymmetry and Dy-O covalence causes the changes in Ω2 and Y/B ratio.
