Mechanoluminescence glow curves of rare-earth doped strontium aluminate phosphors

►A model is explored for the elastico ML of strontium aluminates phosphors. ►For a given strain rate the ML intensity increases linearly with pressure. ►Total mechanoluminescence intensity increases with square of the pressure. ►Several parameters of phosphors can be determined from ML measurements. ►Expressions derived may be useful for tailoring new elastico ML phosphors.
