Nth-nearest neighbor statistics for analysis of particle distribution data derived from micrographs

Mean distances to Nth-nearest neighbors were computed for slices through three-dimensional equilibrium arrays of monodisperse spheres for N up to 200. Inhibition effects were significant even at low volume fractions. The results indicate that micrograph-derived particle distribution statistics should be compared to slice statistics rather than two-dimensional or point data.
