Orientation dependence of martensite variants during loading of Fe-Pd shape memory alloy

A simple analysis based upon infinitesimal deformation theory is applied to the prediction of the orientation dependence of martensite variant fractions in Fe-Pd shape memory alloy. The predictions are in good agreement with previously presented neutron diffraction data.
