General rules governing carbon nanomaterial growth directly on metal support by chemical vapor deposition

▶ The origin of the carbon nanomaterial growth directly on metal support was investigated. ▶ The reaction between the catalyst and support played an important role for the activity of the catalyst. ▶ By critically controlling their interaction, all metal powders are reasonable to be used as catalyst supports for the carbon nanomatrial growth by CVD.
