Direct metal deposition (DMD) of H13 tool steel on copper alloy substrate: Evaluation of mechanical properties

▶ DMD process offers effective means of fabricating bimetallic structures. ▶ Bond strength of directly clad H13 was higher compared to 41C as buffer layer. ▶ Impact energy higher in 41C buffered specimens compared to the directly clad H13. ▶ The tensile fracture surfaces show dimple ductile fracture morphology.
