Energetics and stability of vacancies in carbon nanotubes

► We present the formation energies and stability vacancies in carbon nanotubes (CNT). ► We show that the presence of pentagons stabilize the defects in the CNT. ► We show that vacancies in CNT has the same magic numbers as in graphene.
