Detection of sonoluminescence signals in a gel phantom in the presence of Protoporphyrin IX conjugated to gold nanoparticles

► We conjugated Protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) to gold nanoparticles (GNPs). ► We examined sonoluminescence signal in the presence of Au-PpIX. ► Sonoluminescence signal for gel containing Au-PpIX is significantly higher than those for the other gels.
