Spin transport and relaxation in graphene

► We review recent advances in graphene spintronics. ► Gate tunable spin transport is observed at room temperature. ► The development of high quality tunneling contacts greatly improves spin injection efficiency into graphene. ► Long spin lifetimes are observed in single layer and bilayer graphene. ► Contrasting spin relaxation mechanisms are observed for single layer and bilayer graphene.
