Investigation of the potential involvement of eicosanoid metabolites in anti-diuretic hormone signaling in Rhodnius prolixus

► RhoprCAPA-2 inhibition of fluid secretion is independent of eicosanoid metabolites. ► Inhibition of fluid secretion by RhoprCAPA-2 is Ca2+-independent. ► Urease-related factors inhibit fluid secretion independent of RhoprCAPA-2 signaling. ► Jack bean urease, and its derived peptide, are not agonists of the anti-diuretic hormone receptor. ► Our results indicate that two distinct anti-diuretic mechanisms exist in Rhodnius prolixus.
