Antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity of pleurocidin against cariogenic microorganisms

► MIC and MBC results showed that pleurocidin had different antimicrobial activities against the tested oral strains. ► Pleurocidin dissolved in saliva still showed antimicrobial effects against oral microorganisms. ► Pleurocidin showed a favorable killing effect against BioFlux flow biofilms in vitro. ► Pleurocidin caused a remarkable modification of cell membrane or overall shape.
