Effect of oxidizing adulterants on human urinary steroid profiles

► We examine the effect of nine popular oxidizing urine adulterants on steroid profile. ► Some oxidants such as hypochlorite and nitrite degrade all urinary steroids. ► Some oxidants preferentially degrade certain specific steroid species. ► Many oxidants alter the steroid ratios which are stable steroid profile parameters. ► These findings have implication in doping control drug testing programs.
