Hurgadacin: A new steroid from Sinularia polydactyla

- Hurgadacin (1), a new 24,25-bishomo-26-methylenecholesterol from the soft coral Sinularia polydactyla.
- The soft coral was collected from the Red Sea, near Hurghada at the Egyptian coast.
- This together with two related steroids (2, 3), lactiflorenol (4) and peridinin (5).
- Structure of 1-5 were confirmed by 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS spectrometry.
- The antimicrobial and cytotoxic (brine shrimps) activities were investigated.
