Activité des pharmaciens hospitaliers et satisfaction professionnelle. Résultats de l'enquête SESMAT

A representative sample was defined. The number of pharmacists is comparable with other physician specialists. The two thirds of pharmacists achieve at least seven sorts of activity. There is no significant difference with physicians concerning family life, they are younger; female are more numerous. Frequent intent to leave the profession (thinking about leaving monthly or more) is declared by 20,2 % of pharmacists. Burnout is higher with pharmacists and physicians who have a frequent intent to leave. Difficulties in interpersonal relationships at work, bad quality in team functioning, feeling to be harassed by hierarchically superiors at least once monthly, frequent fear to make mistakes and an effort / reward ratio imbalanced or inadequate are linked to burnout among pharmacists. There are similarities and slight differences between pharmacists and other physician specialities. SESMAT study results give important elements about the impact of work organisation quality and team functioning in healthcare establishments.
