ZBRK1 represses HIV-1 LTR-mediated transcription

► We have identified a transcriptional repressor of HIV-1 replication. ► Overexpression of ZBRK1 represses transcriptional activity of the HIV-1 LTR. ► The depletion of ZBRK1 leads to activation of the HIV-1 LTR. ► TRIM28 binding is required for ZBRK1 repressor activity. ► These results indicate that ZBRK1 could be involved in antiretroviral defense.
