Central angiotensin II-induced Alzheimer-like tau phosphorylation in normal rat brains

► ICV Ang II induced significant tau phosphorylation independent on blood pressure. ► High-dose Ang II infusion impaired cognitive performance. ► Ang II induced tau phosphorylation by stimulating AT1R and activating GSK3β. ► Inhibition of GSK3β attenuated tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment.
