SARA is dispensable for functional TGF-β signaling

► Smad anchor for receptor activation (SARA) expression did not correlate to transforming growth factor β (TGF-β)-induced phosphorylation of Smad proteins in B-cell lymphoma. ► Virtually complete SARA knockdown in Hela cells did not abrogate canonical TGF-β signaling. ► SARA did not bind to central components of the TGF-β signaling pathway.
