Identification of a unique splicing regulatory cluster in hepatitis B virus pregenomic RNA

► Hepatitis B virus pregenomic RNA harbors interspersed splicing activator and repressor domains. ► Two intronic splicing activators in pregenomic RNA function independently of exonic splicing regulatory sequences. ► These activator sequences can stimulate splicing even when inside a heterologous intron.
