c-Jun/AP-1 transcription factor regulates laminin-1-induced neurite outgrowth in human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells: Role of multiple signaling pathways

► Laminin-1 stimulates expression of neuronal markers but not glial specific GFAP during neurite induction in human MSCs. ► The c-Jun transcription factor is highly activated by laminin-1 and c-Jun expression is crucial for neurite formation. ► Laminin-1-induced expression of α6 integrin and neurofilament-L is regulated by c-Jun during neuritogenesis. ► Mechanistic studies showed that laminin-1 stimulates activation of c-Jun via FAK/Src, JNK and Akt signaling.
