► LmLAAO from Lachesis muta venom: biochemical, functional and structural characterization. ► LmLAAO model based on sequence homology was manually built. ► It is a homodimeric enzyme with catalytic preference for hydrophobic amino acids. ► LmLAAO induced cytotoxicity on AGS and MCF-7 cell lines. ► LmLAAO presents antiparasitic activity on Leishmania brasiliensis.
