Proliferation and recapitulation of developmental patterning associated with regulative regeneration of the spinal cord neural tube

► The spinal neural tube can regulatively regenerate following unilateral ablations. ► Regulative regeneration requires only modest compensatory proliferation. ► Despite abnormal morphogenesis, neural progenitor patterning is recapitulated. ► Proper progenitor patterning implements a proper patterning of postmitotic neurons. ► Regulative capacity diminishes as ablations are made at later developmental stages.
