Genetic basis of carotenoid overproduction in Fusarium oxysporum

► F. oxysporum contains light-regulated genes for carotenoid biosynthesis. ► Carotenoid overproducing mutants (carS) were obtained by chemical mutagenesis. ► Screening of about 10,000 T-DNA insertional mutants led to identify the gene carS. ► CarS is a protein of the RING-finger family.
