Mitochondrial plasmid-like elements in some hypovirulent strains of Cryphonectria parasitica

► A new mitochondrial plasmid-like element (plME-C9) has been found in a hypovirulent strain of Cryphonectria parasitica. ► We have examined possible links of the abundance of the plME with the growth and hypovirulence of the fungus. ► The proliferation of this plME-C9 is not be directly associated with the induction of hypovirulence.
