Analysis of the role of transcription factor VAD-5 in conidiation of Neurospora crassa

► The role of vad-5 in conidiation was confirmed by gene complementation. ► The genes responsive to vad-5 deletion were analyzed by DEG profiling. ► The roles of 132 genes down-regulated in the vad-5 deletion mutant in conidiation were analyzed. ► The roles of 211 genes upregulated in the vad-5 deletion mutant in conidiation were analyzed. ► The possible mechanisms by which vad-5 influences conidiation were discussed.
