Synergistic anti-tumor effects of RAD001 with MEK inhibitors in neuroendocrine tumors: A potential mechanism of therapeutic limitation of mTOR inhibitor

► Dual inhibition of mTOR with MEK synergistically decreases cell proliferation by suppressing cell cycle in NET cells. ► The simultaneous treatment also inhibits cell migration by decreasing migration factors, MMP2 and MMP9. ► The combined therapy of mTOR and MEK inhibitors may be an effective treatment for NET patients.
