On the heat equation with variable properties (applying a WKB method involving turning points)

In this article, we solve the heat equation with a variable density function. The WKB (Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin) method is used to find large eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions. The solution of the heat equation for a non-uniform medium is then presented using an eigenfunction expansion method.
