On the mathematical kinetic theory of active particles with discrete states: The derivation of macroscopic equations

This paper deals with the analysis of mathematical models of the kinetic theory of active particles with discrete microscopic states. The analysis is specifically addressed to the derivation of macroscopic equations from the underlying kinetic model. The analysis is developed in the framework of mathematical methods for living matter.
