Bounds for the expected value of records from discrete distributions

It is well known that under appropriate hypothesis of existence of moments, the expected value of standardized records from continuous distributions are bounded. We show that in the discrete case these quantities may be unbounded. Nevertheless, it is possible to find upper bounds when weak records are considered rather than ordinary ones. We study the particular case of the first standardized spacing.
