Dissociative ionization of JP-10 (C10H16) by electron impact

Ionization of JP-10 (C10H16, exo-tricycle [5.2.1.02,6] decane) by electron impact has been studied using Fourier transform mass spectrometry. Absolute total and partial ionization cross-sections have been measured as functions of the electron energy in the range of 10–200 eV. The major channel of parent ion fragmentation at low energies (<27 eV) produces C9H13+, and at higher energies, C5H7+. Possible fragmentation mechanisms are discussed.
