Facile synthesis of new Pd(II) and Cu(II) based metallomesogens from ligands containing thiophene rings

The syntheses of the two thiophene based mesogenic ligands and of their palladium(II) and copper(II) complexes achieved through facile and straightforward procedures is reported. The liquid crystal properties were analyzed also by X-ray diffraction techniques.
