Crystal structure of [M(H2O)6][UO2(CH3COO)3]2 (M = Mg2+, Co2+ and Zn2+)

The series of isostructural compounds [M(H2O)6][UO2(ac)3]2, where M = Mg2+ (1), Co2+ (2) and Zn2+ (3), ac = CH3COO−, has been prepared and characterized with single crystal X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. Crystal structures of 1–3 are monoclinic, and contain isolated [M(H2O)6)]2+ and [UO2(ac)3]− complexes, whose mutual packing is led by electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds. In 3, hydrogen bonding of disordered aqua complex was studied using Voronoi-Dirichlet polyhedra (VDP). Characteristics of intermolecular interactions were calculated using molecular VDPs for complexes in 1, 2 and compared with those of previously reported [Be(H2O)4][UO2(ac)3]2.
