This work concerns the coordination chemistry of cadmium(II) tri-tert-butoxysilanethiolates in the presence of aliphatic diamines. Reactions of the binuclear [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2]2 with the respective diamines yielded five new neutral one-dimensional coordination polymers, [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2(μ-C4H12N2)(CH3OH)]n (1), [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2(μ-C5H14N2)(CH3OH)]n (2), [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2(μ-C6H16N2)(CH3OH)]n (3), [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2(μ-C7H18N2)]n (4) and [Cd{SSi(OtBu)3}2(μ-C8H20N2)]n (5), which adopt different spatial chain topologies. The new polymers were fully characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. The thermal stabilities of complexes (1), (3) and (4) complexes were studied by thermogravimetry (TG, DTG).
Five new cadmium 1D coordination polymers were synthesized and structurally characterized. Polymeric chains are built from the tri-tert-butoxysilanethiolate residue and flexible diamines as bridging ligands and adopt different spatial chain topologies. The polymers were characterized by X-ray and TG analysis and FTIR spectroscopy.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
