A dimeric ruthenium (II)-arene precursor containing a 2-hydroxyethoxy moiety tethered to the arene was reacted with a series of monomeric and dimeric iminopyridyl and salicylaldimine Schiff-base ligands to produce a series of new neutral and cationic mono- and binuclear Ru(II)–arene complexes. All the complexes were characterised using various spectroscopic and analytical techniques including 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
A series of mono- and binuclear ruthenium(II)–arene iminopyridyl and salicylaldimine Schiff-base complexes have been synthesized and characterised by NMR and IR spectroscopies, ESI-mass spectrometry, and elemental analyses. The molecular structure of a representative mononuclear complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
