Intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds in [Ag(PPh3)3(HL)] complexes [H2L: H2xspa = 3(aryl)-2-sulfanylpropenoic acids; H2cpa = 2-cyclopentylidene-2-sulfanylacetic acid]

The reactions of some 3-(aryl)-2-sulfanylpropenoic acids (H2xspa) and 2-cyclopentylidene-2-sulfanylacetic (H2cpa) with [Ag(PPh3)3(NO3)] and NaOAc afford complexes of the type [Ag(PPh3)3(HL)]. The crystal structures reveal the presence of discrete molecular units (a) containing an intermolecular O-H···S hydrogen bond or polymeric structures that are built on the basis of O-H···O hydrogen bonds (b).
