Four new silver(I) polymeric architectures with dimeric and trimeric units, namely [Ag2(L1)2(NO3)2]n (1), [Ag2(L2)2(NO3)2]n (2), {[Ag3(L3)2(NO3)2](NO3)}n·2nCH3OH (3) and [Ag4(L4)4](NO3)4·6CH3CN (4) (L1 = terephthalaldioxime, L2 = isophthalaldioxime, L3 = (E)-N-[2-(pyridin-2-yl)isoindolin-1-yl-idene]pyridine-2-amine, and L4 = 1,3-bis(3-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene), have been synthesized and characterized by the element analysis, IR, TG, PL, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Each ligand acts as bidentate or tridentate mode and every two ligands ligates a pair of silver(I) ions or three resulting in [2+2] or [2+3] metallomacrocyclic motif. Complexes 1 and 2, which assemble from similar angular ligand, exhibit layer or chain structure extended via interconnection of the dimeric units by NO3- anions. Complex 3 is a 1-D helical chain extended via interconnection of trimeric units by NO3- anions, in which the trimeric unit is further stabilized by intracyclic Ag⋯Ag and π–π interactions. Two independent dimeric units in complex 4 are separately linked through hydrogen-bonding into a 2-D twofold interpenetrating networks. The investigation of luminescent properties demonstrates that complexes 2, 3 and 4 exhibit intraligand emission bands in the blue, green and purple light region at room temperature, respectively.
Four new silver(I) architectures were constructed from [2+2] or [2+3] metallomacrocyclic motif and angular oxime-imine and bipyridyl ligands. They exhibited intraligand emission bands in the blue, green and purple light region at room temperature, respectively.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
