Hydrogen bonded networks and a self-assembled 1D water cluster in nickel(II) and copper(II)-orotate complexes

We have successfully synthesized and characterized homo- di- and poly-nuclear orotate complexes. In these complexes, orotate acts as a bidentate and a tridentate ligand. Moreover, complex 3 displays an interesting solid-state structure, containing one-dimensional water clusters. The crystal structures of the complexes are stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular O-H···O hydrogen bonds and π···π interactions to form 3D supramolecular networks.
