Carbazolylmethylphosphonate compounds - Synthesis, coordination and fluorescence in solution and cells

Diethylcarbazolylmethylphosphonate 1 forms a 2:1 mononuclear complex with calcium nitrate. Compound 1 is readily taken into cells and fluoresces brightly in the cytoplasm of dorsal root ganglia and fibroscarcoma cells.
