Three new tetrahedral chalcocyanide cluster compounds [{Cu(en)2}2Re4S3.83Te0.17(CN)12] · H2O (1), [{Zn(en)2}2Re4S3.60Te0.41(CN)12] · 3.75H2O (2), and [{Cu(dien)(NH3)}2Re4S3.45Te0.55(CN)12] · 3H2O (3) (en = ethylenediamine, dien = diethylenetriamine) have been synthesized by reaction of the water solution containing salt-like cluster compound K4Re4S4−xTex(CN)12 · nH2O (0 < x < 1) with aqueous ammonia solutions of CuSo4 (1, 3) or ZnCl2 (2) in the presence of polydentate ligands such as ethylenediamine (1, 2) or diethylenetriamine (3). All compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

All compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In structures of all three compounds, the Te atom positions of cluster cores are ordered, and metal cations are coordinated by CN groups which are the closest to tellurium atom position.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
