Synthesis, characterization, crystal structure and catalytic property of [Cu(SalAHE)2] (SalAHEÂ =Â salicylaldehydeimine-1-hydroxyethane) complex for the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol

A new Schiff base copper(II) complex [Cu(SalAHE)2] was synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of this complex shows that it is almost coplanar with the two ligands in the trans configuration. This complex with a simple structure is able to oxidize 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol to the respective o-quinone with molecular oxygen.
