The reaction of acyl(hydrido)cobalt(III) complexes CoIII(O∩CO)(H)(PMe3)3 (1–5) with (2-diphenylphosphanyl)thiophenol afforded four types of complexes CoIII(O∩CO)(P∩S)(PMe3)2 (6–7), CoIII(O∩CO)(O∩OHC)(PMe3)2 (11–15), CoI(P∩S)(PMe3)3 (16), and CoII(P∩S)2(PMe3) (17). A mechanism for the formation of these complexes is proposed. The influences of chelating ligands containing hard/soft donor atoms on the stability of the cobalt complexes in different oxidation states are discussed with respect to the HSAB concept.
The reaction of acyl(hydrido)cobalt(III) complexes 1–5 with (2-diphenylphosphanyl)thiophenol afforded a mixture products composed of compounds 6–7, 11–15, 16, and 17. A mechanism for the formation of these complexes is proposed. The influences of chelating ligands containing hard/soft donor atoms on the stability of the cobalt complexes in different oxidation states are discussed in terms of the HSAB concept.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
