Solvothermal synthesis, structure, and magnetic property for nano-'chromic wheels' [Cr10(μ-O2CMe)10(μ-OMe)10(μ-OEt)10]

Nano-decanuclear cyclic Cr(III) complex, [Cr10(μ-O2CMe)10(μ-OMe)10(μ-OEt)10], has been synthesized. The Cr10 rings are close to planar, with ethoxide and acetato ligands pointing outside of the “wheel” and methoxide ligands pointing to inside of the “wheel”. Magnetic susceptibility studies reveal very weak anti-ferromagnetic Cr⋯Cr exchange.
