Synthesis, molecular, crystal and electronic structure of [(C6H6)RuCl2(picoline)]

[(C6H6)RuCl2(pic)] complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of [(C6H6)RuCl2]2 with α-, β- and γ-picoline in methanolic solution. The prepared complexes have been studied by IR, UV–Vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of the complex with α-picoline was determined by X-ray crystallography. The electronic spectra of the compounds have been calculated by the TDDFT method.
