Determination of alkaloids in endemic Genista quadriflora Munby (Fabaceae)

• This is the first report of the chemical composition of G. quadriflora Munby.
• Eighteen compounds were identified in the plant.
• Quinolizidine and piperidine alkaloids are chemotaxonomic markers for Genista.
• Pohakuline confirms relationship of Genista with the Ulex-Stauracanthus clade.
