Population structure and diversity in cultivated and wild Luffa species

• 438 ISSR markers sorted accessions of five Luffa species into three clusters.
• Luffa hermaphrodita clustered with cultivated Luffa acutangula and wild L. acutangula var. amara.
• Population structure analysis differentiated L. acutangula and aegyptiaca into two populations.
• Moderate level of gene diversity was observed among different accessions.
