Luminescence of unfused 95%SiO2-5%GeO2 amorphous films with fluorine additive: No evidence for presence of GeODC(I) defects found

► Ge-doped silica (SPCVD) films exhibit different ODCs with different levels of fluorine. ► “high F” (~ 4.2 wt.%) unfused films reveal permanent ODCs. ► “low F” (~ 0.5 wt.%) 6.4 eV light yields transient ODCs from a latent state. ► Germano-silicates do not show presence of GeODC(I).
